20 Nov Spotlight on Our Patient-Friendly Dental Technologies
Dentistry is an old profession with roots stretching as far back as 7000 BCE. Fortunately, dentistry knowledge, techniques, and technologies have evolved considerably since the days of the ancient Indus Valley civilization. Today, patients have greater access to advanced technologies that focus on not only improving patient health, but also enhancing comfort levels and patient education. At the dentistry office of John R. Carson, DDS, we’ve invested in the latest cutting-edge technologies because our patients are important to us.
One example of dental technology that improves patient education is our intraoral camera. Dr. Carson can place this small, comfortable camera inside your mouth. The images it captures are relayed to a computer screen in real time. You’ll be able to see inside your own mouth, following along with Dr. Carson as he points out areas of concern and explains your treatment recommendations. Furthermore, the intraoral camera lends itself to the early detection and treatment of issues such as fractured teeth, gum disease, tooth decay, and soft tissue lesions.
Dental X-rays are an important tool for identifying oral health problems that require intervention. They enable dentists to see hidden tooth decay, oral cysts, and teeth that are impacted or at risk of becoming impacted. At our dentistry office, we use digital radiography rather than film X-rays. Digital X-rays are viewable on any screen in the practice and are stored in the computer. In addition, they provide a clearer image, enabling Dr. Carson to more readily spot potential issues. Plus, our patients love knowing that our digital radiography uses up to 90% less radiation than film X-rays.
CEREC Same-Day Crowns
At most dental practices, patients receiving crowns must wait while an off-site lab fabricates their crown. This isn’t necessary at our practice because we’ve invested in the state-of-the-art CEREC same-day crown system. With CEREC, we are able to custom fabricate crowns while the patient waits. This means there is no need for an additional appointment to place the crown.
